What this site collects, why, and how long we keep it. Last updated October 27, 2026.
Who we are
Young Travelers is an independent, community-run guide to hotel minimum check-in ages. Questions or requests: youngtravelers.help@gmail.com.
What we collect
If you share a hotel policy, we store what you type into the form: the hotel, the age, your proof or note, and the optional stay date. Your email is optional, is never shown, and is used only to ask a follow-up question. It is erased as soon as we approve or decline your submission.
If you leave feedback on a listing ("Still accurate" or "Out of date?"), we store your choice and any note you add.
If a search finds nothing, we save the search words, the state and the age you chose, so we know where to add hotels. We do not save your name or email, because we never ask for them.
Spam protection. Whenever you submit a policy, send feedback or run a search with no results, we store a scrambled code made from your network (IP) address and a secret key held in our database. We use it only to limit how many items one sender can post per hour or day. We cannot read your address back from it, and it is erased after 90 days.
Who sees your visit
The site sets no cookies and has no analytics, advertising or session-recording tools. Loading any page necessarily shares your network address with the companies that run it: Netlify (hosting) and Supabase (database). They may keep their own server logs under their own policies, and we do not control that. Searching hotels needs no sign-up, and we do not store anything about you when a search finds results.
What stays in your browser
Your browser keeps a short-lived copy of the hotel list (about 10 minutes, cleared when you close the tab), a note of which listings you have already given feedback on, and the time of your last submission, so we can space them out. The last two stay until you clear site data. None of this is used to track you, and none of it leaves your device except the feedback and submissions you choose to send.
How long we keep things
- Email address: erased when a submission is approved or declined.
- Approved submissions: kept, without your email, as the record of where a policy came from.
- Declined submissions: deleted 90 days after review.
- Spam-protection codes: erased after 90 days.
- Search words with no results and feedback notes: kept without any identifying code, because they only tell us where to improve.
Age
Sharing a policy is for people 18 and older, and the form asks you to confirm that. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
What we don't do
We do not sell or share personal information, and visitors do not have accounts.
Your requests
Email youngtravelers.help@gmail.com to see, correct or delete something you sent us, or to remove your email. Tell us roughly when you sent it and which hotel it was about, and we will reply within 30 days. Because we do not keep your name, we may need that detail to find it.
Where the hotel list comes from
Hotel names, addresses, phone numbers, websites and map locations come in part from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License. See Terms for how this site may be used.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top.
